Adams Road is a major North-South Collector serving commercial farming, local commute and recreational traffic in Grant County. This section is the north end and the last section to be improved to all-season standards. Adams Road carries a high truck percentage and is currently subject to seasonal weight restrictions. This section crosses and runs parallel to four Columbia Basin Irrigation Project canals.

The existing road was narrow and subject to seasonal weight restrictions. Two timber bridges and a railroad crossing also were very narrow and made traffic flow unsafe and constricted.

This project improved Adams Road to all-season load carrying capacity and included minor changes in vertical alignment. The road, as well as BNSF railroad crossing, was widened from 21 foot wide to 28 feet. The two narrow timber bridges were replaced with prefabricated concrete structures. Two other narrow timber bridges in very close proximity to, and elevated above the intersection (severely hindering turning movements), were replaced as part of a County funded companion project.
