Danekas Road project #2 is located 5.75 miles Northeast of Ritzville. Danekas is a major arterial linking the City of Ritzville with portions of Adams and Lincoln Counties. The road is used to transport grain to storage facilities in the Ritzville area and transport livestock thru Adams County to the Davenport Livestock sale yard. It also provides access to recreational areas in Lincoln County. It provides commuter and school bus access between Ritzville, Harrington and Davenport and acts as a bypass route for Interstate 90. On this section of road is a fertilizer plant, a natural gas plant, a grain transfer station.
This project links with 3.2 miles of roadway just west of this project that was rebuilt to 30ft of paved surface in 2010

The existing roadway only had 11’ lanes with a 3’ gravel shoulder on each side. The roadway surface and base was deteriorating. The lack of adequate structural material and narrow pavement compromised safety. The roadway had an ADT of 525 vehicles, with 31% representing truck traffic when the project was submitted.

The road was reconstructed by milling the existing pavement, grading, widening, flattening slopes, placing rock, a section of cement treated base, and surfacing with asphalt. Drainage facilities were replaced as well. Minor adjustments were made to the vertical alignment to restore smoothness and improve the ride. The roadway was widened from 22 feet to a 30 feet paved width. Adams County chose build the project in 5 phases as follows: 1;Crushing -Competitive Bid and awarded to DeAtley in February of 2014, 2;County Forces –Construction Signs and Detour Route 3; Construction Phase 1 Competitive Bid - Awarded to AGR Contracting, Inc May 2014, to do roadway excavation & embankment work, replacement of culverts, hauling, placing, and compacting crushed surfacing material 4;County Forces –Traffic control devices 5; Construction Phase 2 Competitive Bid - Awarded to Central Washington Asphalt July 2014, for asphalt pavement.
