Kittitas County is proposing to replace a deficient NBIS structure on Reecer Creek Road at milepost 0.85. This location along Reecer Creek Road has seen significant development in the last several years, and the County has been unable to secure Federal Funding for the replacement. The existing bridge no. 88273 is 35.5’ wide (curb to curb), 30’ long, and has a sufficiency rating of 56.75. The structure was built in 1924 and was rebuilt in 1963 to add width to the structure. The south footing of the structure has completely deteriorated away, and the abutment is starting to undermine.

Reecer Creek Road provides a regionally significant north-south connection through Lower Kittitas County, connecting to the Wentachee National Forrest and providing access to logging recreation, ranching, growing residential, and farming areas. The most recent recorded ADT at the project site is 1504 with a truck ADT of 420, and the gross annual tons carried over the bridge was 1,358,000 in 2022.

The scope of this project includes replacing the existing concrete structure with a new structure of sufficient width and length to accommodate an additional turn lane and sidewalk. The project would update the guardrail and end treatments to meet AASHTO standards and would provide pedestrian railings across the canal. The surface material, hot mixed asphalt, and subgrade in the immediate vicinity of the bridge would also be replaced.
