Classified as a Rural Major Collector and T2 Truck Route, Cook Road provides a direct west/east link between Interstate-5 and the City of Sedro Woolley, serving over 16,000 vehicles per day (7% truck traffic). The proposed 2R project will mill the top 2-inches of the existing travel lanes, leaving the paved shoulders intact, then backfilling with a new 2-inch layer of hot-mix asphalt. This will restore the driving surface that is currently covered in longitudinal cracking throughout the 3.35-mile project footprint, including areas of rutting and alligator cracking. This project will protect the road sub-base, preventing the need for a much more costly and time-consuming project in the near future, greatly impacting the community and movement of freight and goods.
