Green Hollow Road is a frequently used route from SR 23 and SR 26 in the central portion of Whitman County. This portion of Green Hollow Road is the far south end of the road and intersects with SR 26 in Colfax. This project will allow for widening and resurfacing of the road, as well as vertical and horizontal alignment improvements. The vertical alignment currently follows a very steep grade from SR 26 to the north, the vertical alignment will be improved near SR 26 to make it a continuous grade rather than one that steepens as you travel north. Sight distance on horizontal curves will be improved by increasing radii or alignment changes through "S" curve sections. Clear zones will also be improved by mitigating hazards and construction shallower embankment slopes. Work scope includes widening, grading, drainage improvements, alignment improvements, and surfacing.
