In the early twentieth century Vantage Highway was part of State Route 7 connecting Vantage, Kittitas and Ellensburg. Today Vantage Highway provides a regionally significant east-west connection from Vantage to Ellensburg, providing access to I-90, recreation, agricultural areas, and wind and solar facilities. Vantage Highway is heavily used by trucks which account for almost half of the ADT (truck ADT = 275). This road is also used as a detour route for I-90 between Vantage and Ellensburg when there are events such as wildfires and accidents that require the interstate to be closed.

This stretch of Vantage Highway shows distress in the form of transverse and longitudinal cracking for the majority of the road, there are also patches and alligator cracking. The existing pavement section cannot support current demands. The scope of work includes HMA repair and an asphalt overlay on all lanes in an attempt to build surface depth and structural capacity. Work will also include upgrading and/or replacing existing guardrail as needed. This road improvement is needed for public safety and improved mobility.

Resurfacing of the roadway with HMA repair and an asphalt overlay on all lanes for 6.26 miles of Vantage Highway. This was done to address pavement distress and improve structural capacity. Funding was also secured to make safety improvements by replacing or extending guardrail.
