The McManamon Bridge #400-3 is located on the McManamon Road 0.50 miles north of Othello. The Road is a major arterial linking the City of Othello with portions of Adams and Grant Counties. The road is used to transport produce and commodities to storage and processing facilities in the Othello area and also provides access to recreational areas in and around the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge. It is a primary route for the growing residential population that commutes to work and schools in the City of Othello. This is the only Adams County road that serves this western part of Adams County.

The existing bridge is built of 30 concrete prestressed “T-Beams” placed on a substructure of 2 concrete abutments and 5 concrete 2-column piers. There are 72 weld ties connecting the deck of the T-beams together and 28 weld ties connecting the diaphragms together. The weld ties have rusted and deteriorated to the point that the beams are not acting as a single unit. The deficiencies in the weld ties vary from the tie plates missing, welds broken, to the concrete spalling around the weld ties and exposing rusted and deteriorated weld ties and anchors.

The new bridge will be constructed south of the existing structure on new alignment. The county plans to use the existing bridge as a detour during construction then remove it. Approximately 1000' of new approach to the NW and 700' to the SE will be constructed to tie into the existing road. New approach guardrail and bridge rail will be installed. All construction will be to current design standards.
