This 0.59-mile section of NE Munch Road is a high-speed, rural major collector, running north-south from NE Cedar Creek Road to NE 414th Street. It provides a connection between State Route 503 and Cedar Creek Road leading to Woodland and Interstate 5. The road section has an approximate ADT of 900.
There are major pavement distresses which include weathering, raveling, bleeding, longitudinal and transverse cracking. Preliminary analysis using Falling Weight Deflectometer data indicates that an overlay is required for structural adequacy.
There were three reported injury crashes from 2013 to 2015, all of which were fixed-object crashes.
The proposed improvements include reconstructing a vertical curve at the intersection of NE Munch Road and NE 414th Road by lowering the roadway surface thereby improving sight distance, installing guardrail, excavating a rock face on an inside curve to improve sight distance and applying a structural asphalt overlay with a safety edge. Improvements are designed to enhance safety, maneuverability, and roadway longevity. Existing utility poles and roadside objects will be relocated or protected, where feasible.
