The current culvert is a 36" diameter concrete pipe. The pipe has significant cracks running along the top of the pipe due to settling. The bottom of the pipe has extensive section loss, as seen in the "before photos". The settling and section loss has constricted the flow in the center of the pipe and is threatening the integrity of the road. There is also scaling, spalling, and areas of efflorescence. The size, material, and configuration of the culvert replacement will be determined during the design and permitting phases of the project. Along with the culvert replacement, the roadway will be reconstructed at current width, the stream bed will be regraded, guardrail will be replaced, and other related work will be completed as needed.
