The Lind- Hatton Road is a major collector linking the residents, business, railroad, and wheat elevator in and around the City of Lind to the Beatrice area, Othello, and SR 26. This road is a major haul route for farmer’s agricultural products to market or storage and the haul route for farmers and feed trucks to the National Foods chicken egg factory. It is also a transportation corridor for workers commuting to jobs. Trucks have difficulty on this road because of its narrowness and distressed pavement condition.
Factors to consider
1. The recent ADT's show a volume of 107 vehicles, with 52% representing truck traffic.
2. The current lane width is 10 foot with minimal gravel and native material shoulders that have eroded in places.
3. This project will complete the section of Lind Hatton Road from the previous RAP funded Lind Hatton Road #4 Project to SR 21.
The project would consist of widening the roadbed to 30feet width, mitigating roadside hazards, modifying side slopes, shoulder widening, adding guardrail where required, prelevel, and surfacing the entire roadway with a BST wearing course. The vertical and horizontal alignments will remain mostly unchanged.
