Boon Road is a minor collector that provides access to the west side of the City of Oak Harbor and is an important bypass for SR 20 for the State of Washington. The project is the portion of Boon Road that begins at the intersection of Boon Road and Ft. Nugent Road and proceeds southward 0.73 miles. This portion of the road has 0-2 feet of gravel shoulders with vertical curves not meeting current sight distance standards. The project includes utility relocation, tree and hazard removal, vertical curve reconstruction and right of way acquisition. Proposed improvements are to improve vertical alignments, sight distance and widen the road to provide a minimum of 4 foot continuously wide paved shoulders for the entire Boon Road length, improve drainage facilities and provide clear zone protection.
