Even small rain events but always during Snoqualmie River flooding events, various portions of this road become flooded, coupled with numerous land slides, causing culverts to clog and portions of the roadway to slump. A long detour and moderate traffic volumes raises this project to a higher priority for King County. This project was identified in King County's 2008 Vulnerable Road Segment Report as the 5th highest priority project. Without attention, continued impact could jeopordize the support of the roadway causing it to fall into the adjacent Snoqualmie River or be buried by slide debris.
The larger scope of this entire project includes replacement of three culverts. This request is to fund replacement of the first of the three culverts - identified as #13523. (A detailed map illustrating the three culverts has been attached with the photos.)
