John's Prarie Road is a Rural Major Collector serving a growing industrial area. It connects the Wallace Kneeland Road (coming from SR 101)to SR 3 north of Shelton. The Mason County Operations and Maintenance Shop was located along the roadway and the new PUD facility is now also located nearby. The roadway was an 18 foot wide asphalt surface with 2’ shoulders and a number of sharp curves, making for unsafe travel on a busy road. The project improved the safe speed of the road to 45 mph. The pavement was widened to standard width and strengthened with new hot mix asphalt to support the road's ongoing heavy industrial truck traffic. The new John's River Road is stronger, safer and convenient for all local and cross county traffic.
