Accountability
Since 1965, the State Legislature has held the Washington State County Road Administration Board accountable to establish, by rule, Standards of Good Practice. In turn CRAB ensures that the 39 County Road Departments of Washington State are fully accountable for transportation spending and performance within their jurisdictions.
The agency's major areas of responsibility include:
- Distribution of the counties' portion of the Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax (MVFT).
- Statutory oversight of Washington State's 39 county road agencies.
- Certification of the County Road Log, a database of almost 40,000 miles of roads.
- Review County compliance with the Standards of Good Practice.
- Provide professional, technical, and administrative assistance to the Washington State County Engineers and County Public Works staff.
